The delegation included H.E. Mrs. Zohour Alaoui, Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of the Kingdom of Morocco to UNESCO and President of the Arab Group, H.E. Representatives of the Arab Group took this opportunity to inform the Director-General that at a special meeting held on 19 July, the group had expressed its "rejection" and "condemnation" of recent statements made by the Israeli Attorney General, Mr. Yehuda Feinstein, according to which "Al Aqsa Mosque is an integral part of Israeli territory," as referenced under the terms of Israeli legislation regarding archaeological heritage.

They also submitted to the Director-General a declaration refuting these statements on the basis of all relevant international resolutions of the UN and UNESCO.
