Moody's: Mexico airport project cancellation to hit tourism and investment

Finnair To Fly New A350 Route To Los Angeles In 2019

Thursday, August 23, 2018 - Continuing with its growth strategy, Finnair today announced it will begin flying to Los Angeles, California, as of next spring. Finnair will fly three weekly frequencies to LAX airport as of March 31, 2019. In addition, the new route to Los Angeles will be Finnair’s first US route to be regularly operated with the new Airbus A350 aircraft.

Air New Zealand announces $540m profit, second highest in airline history

Boeing and Tata Announce Aerospace Joint Venture in India

HB5Q2348_med-resBoeing and Tata Advanced Systems today announced a joint venture (JV) that will manufacture aerostructures for aircraft and collaborate on integrated systems development opportunities in India.

The JV will initially create a manufacturing center of excellence to produce aerostructures for the AH-64 Apache helicopter and to compete for additional manufacturing work packages across Boeing platforms, both commercial and defense.  Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems intend to grow the JV partnership in the future with a focus on opportunities to collaborate on development and selling of integrated systems.

This 10-year FHS-TSP contract, commencing early 2016, guarantees spare parts availability through an extensive scope of A320 Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), components repair, transportation and expendables provisioning together with Fleet Technical Management (FTM) services where Tigerair will benefit from Airbus’ experience and expertise to optimize their aircraft maintenance and engineering operations.

Southwest Airlines Pilot Union Rejects Agreement

Southwest AirlinesSouthwest Airlines today announced that its Pilots have rejected the tentative contract agreement that Union and Company negotiators reached in September. According to the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association, 62 percent of Pilots who cast ballots voted against the deal.

“Everyone who worked on this agreement wanted to ensure that it recognized Southwest Pilots for the role they play in the Company’s success,” said Vice President of Flight Operations Craig Drew. “Although our efforts failed to produce an agreement, we will continue working until we have a contract that meets the needs of our Pilots and the Company.”
