Dragonair to operate more flights to Shanghai Hongqiao

dragonairDragonair today announced the addition of two more flights per week from Hong Kong to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. The additional flights will begin on 10 November 2015.
 




The airline currently operates a daily service between Hong Kong and Shanghai Hongqiao. The additional flights will bring the total number of flights per week to the airport to nine.
 
   
 
 

China Introduces C919 aircraft challenging aviation masters

c919China introduces the new aircraft C919, its answer to Boeing and Airbus, a much larger homegrown production line in Shanghai.




 
In a ceremonious opening, China introduced its flashy carrier, a sporty white fuselage with blue wavy stripes and a green tail. The huge and well built body says” a dream takes off” as the Chinese flag waves proudly to welcome its dreamlike creation.
   
 
 

DXB sets new record with 7.2 million pax in August

According to the latest traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports today, traffic at the world’s number one hub for international passengers reached 7,282,256, up 9.5 per cent from 6,648,058 recorded during the same month in 2014.

New Rules for Uber, Lyft and Limousine Services Began November 1

Metropolitan Washington Authority AirportNew rules governing the operation of limousines and app-based Transportation Network Companies (TNCs), such as Uber and Lyft, began on November 1 at Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International Airports. The rules expand the variety of convenient ground transportation choices available to passengers using the airport.

Allegheny County Airport Authority To Conduct Public Auction Nov. 7

Pittsburgh AirportThe Allegheny County Airport Authority will conduct an auction of abandoned vehicles, used Airport Authority vehicles and equipment, and other unclaimed items from Pittsburgh International Airport at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Airport Heavy Equipment Building on Cargo Road.
 



Directions: Follow I-376 to Hangar Road; turn left at the traffic light, at next intersection turn left on to Cargo Road and follow to top of hill.  Airport Authority employees will direct attendees to parking location.

Brussels South Charleroi Airport To get your 2015 autumn holidays off to a good start, Brussels South Charleroi Airport wanted to give young and old alike a bit of a treat. On Monday 2 November, a rather unusual passenger was at the airport terminal between 11am and 3pm.




In fact, there was a Minion wandering around Brussels South Charleroi Airport, who didn’t need to be asked twice to spend some time with other passengers and make the most of the opportunity to capture the moment with children and adults, both departing and arriving, as well as members of airport staff. And of course he didn’t come empty-handed; he was laden with chocolate to share with the children, to their great delight.
   
 
 

Fraport and WFS Complete Strategic Partnership for Cargo Handling at Frankfurt Airport

fraportFraport AG and WFS completed the transaction for a strategic partnership in the area of airfreight handling at Frankfurt Airport.  Under the agreement signed in July 2015, Fraport has sold a 51-percent share in its Frankfurt-based Fraport Cargo Services GmbH (FCS) subsidiary to WFS, the world’s largest independent air cargo handler.





Fraport AG executive board chairman Dr. Stefan Schulte said:  “We are launching a new chapter in cargo handling at Frankfurt with a very strong and competent global partner.  We look forward to our future cooperation with WFS, a win-win partnership for our companies as well as our customers.”

Dubai AirportDubai International registered the highest monthly traffic in its 55-year history with 7.2 million passengers in August.
 




According to the latest traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports today, traffic at the world’s number one hub for international passengers reached 7,282,256, up 9.5 per cent from 6,648,058 recorded during the same month in 2014. The year to date traffic totalled 52,264,223, up 12.4 per cent compared to 46,479,919 recorded during the first eight months last year.
   
 
 

Alaska Air Cargo ships ornaments from Alaska to District of Columbia for the Capitol Christmas Tree

download (1)Alaska Air Cargo is shipping more than 4,000 ornaments from the state of Alaska to the District of Columbia today, in support of the 2015 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree program, in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service-Chugach National Forest and Choose Outdoors.
 




The colorful hand-decorated ornaments will be used to decorate the Capitol Christmas Tree displayed on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol for the holiday season, and smaller companion trees throughout Washington, D.C.
   
 
 

Orient Thai looks to travel agency channel for growth; selects Amadeus

downloadOrient Thai Airlines (Orient Thai) has selected Amadeus as their first global distribution system (GDS) partner as it seeks to expand its business in the region. With Amadeus, Orient Thai will now distribute its fares, schedules and availability through the widest network of global travel agents.




The airline expects to increase its fleet size to 60 within 5 years, and plans to transport 5 million passengers in the next 3 years. New routes will soon be added between Bangkok and Singapore, Taipei, Japan, South Korea, Macau, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
