DXB sets new record with 7.2 million pax in August

Dubai AirportDubai International registered the highest monthly traffic in its 55-year history with 7.2 million passengers in August.
 




According to the latest traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports today, traffic at the world’s number one hub for international passengers reached 7,282,256, up 9.5 per cent from 6,648,058 recorded during the same month in 2014. The year to date traffic totalled 52,264,223, up 12.4 per cent compared to 46,479,919 recorded during the first eight months last year.
   
 
 

Alaska Air Cargo ships ornaments from Alaska to District of Columbia for the Capitol Christmas Tree

download (1)Alaska Air Cargo is shipping more than 4,000 ornaments from the state of Alaska to the District of Columbia today, in support of the 2015 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree program, in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service-Chugach National Forest and Choose Outdoors.
 




The colorful hand-decorated ornaments will be used to decorate the Capitol Christmas Tree displayed on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol for the holiday season, and smaller companion trees throughout Washington, D.C.
   
 
 

Orient Thai looks to travel agency channel for growth; selects Amadeus

downloadOrient Thai Airlines (Orient Thai) has selected Amadeus as their first global distribution system (GDS) partner as it seeks to expand its business in the region. With Amadeus, Orient Thai will now distribute its fares, schedules and availability through the widest network of global travel agents.




The airline expects to increase its fleet size to 60 within 5 years, and plans to transport 5 million passengers in the next 3 years. New routes will soon be added between Bangkok and Singapore, Taipei, Japan, South Korea, Macau, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
   
 
 

Alaska Airlines Begins Flying to Costa Rica

Alaska AirlinesAlaska Airlines inaugurated new service between Los Angeles International Airport and Costa Rica’s two major international airports, further strengthening the airline’s southern California focus city.





The eight weekly flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to San Jose (SJO) and Liberia/Guanacaste (LIR), Costa Rica, started Saturday and Sunday respectively, and is the first international destination Alaska has launched since 1991, when the Seattle-based airline introduced seasonal service to Magadan, Russia.

Air Canada Inaugurates 787 Dreamliner Service to Delhi

The new route offers the only non-stop flight between Canada and the Indian subcontinent and is the first to be dedicated for Air Canada’s Boeing 787-9 series aircraft, the most modern aircraft in its fleet.

New era begins for Cathay Pacific as airline unveils changes to aircraft livery

SWISS teams up with Swiss Olympic and Swiss Paralympic

SWissUnder the new partnership agreement, which comes into immediate effect, SWISS will support the Swiss Olympic and Swiss Paralympic teams in their air travel to and from major sporting events abroad, including the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games in Brazil.




 
For next year’s Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro SWISS will operate two special flights, one before and one after the event. On 1 August the airline will fly part of the Swiss Olympic team non-stop from Zurich to Rio on one of its new Boeing 777-300ERs, the sixth to be delivered.
   
 
 

SNAV congress 2016 to be hosted in Sri Lanka
