Adelaide Convention Centre: New International Conference Secured

Thursday, September 10, 2015 -

Adelaide Convention CentreMore than 1,000 young researchers from around the world will come to Adelaide Convention Centre in 2018 with Adelaide winning a bid to host the International Conference of Young Researchers on Advanced Materials (ICYRAM).

It will be the first time the biennial ICYRAM has been held in Australia with recent hosts including Singapore, Hainan (PRC) and in 2016, Bangalore.

ICYRAM, which will be held over 5 days in October 2018, will bring delegates from Europe, Asia and Australia.

The successful bid for ICYRAM was put together by Dr Drew Evans, University of South Australia’s Future Industries Institute, the Australian Material Research Society and the Adelaide Convention Centre. It was supported by the Adelaide Convention Bureau.

South Australian Tourism Minister Leon Bignell said the 1,000 or more delegates attending ICYRAM will inject around $4.4 million into the South Australia economy.

“ICYRAM adds to the more than 700 events that have been secured for the expanded Centre including 30 conference events, each with more than 1,000 delegates,” said Mr Bignell.
